11K Overview
Please note that exact course changes slightly each year due to snow conditions.
The Broken Arrow is all about community, both elites and recreational runners, and as such we want to celebrate runners of all types! Accordingly, In 2018 we added our 11K! While our other distances are Skyrace caliber events the 11K is a gateway drug to those longer and harder distances. If, perhaps you are just getting into trail running or are intimidated by the other events, this is your race!
The Broken Arrow Skyrace is proud to have received approval from Trail Sisters, an organization seeking to increase women’s participation and opportunity in trail running and hiking through inspiration, education and empowerment. Click HERE to learn more about this awesome organization.
Course Specifics
The course for the Broken Arrow 11K starts from the European arch in front of Coffeebar in the heart of the Palisades Tahoe Village. After the start gun runners head through the Village and east up single track trails along the Western States trail toward CA Highway 89. After 2 miles the course exits onto a dirt two-track that heads up and over Knob Hill and then up to the top of Snow King Peak.
Runners will then travel back down a ~1 mile steep ~730 ft. descent to the village to the finish.
The price for the 11k is $85.
Please note that you must be 14 years of age or older to run the 11k. We allow runners under 14 to participate but they must be approved by the race directors and have a parent accompany them. Each accompanying parent must also be registered for the 11k distance.
Aid Stations
At the Broken Arrow Skyrace, whether you finish first or last, YOU are a rockstar. This mantra is also true with how you are treated at our aid stations. We've partnered with some of best groups out there who understand that race day is YOUR time to shine. These partners routinely pull out all the stops to make your day a fantastic experience. We hope you will enjoy our best-in-class aid station service from the following groups:
In addition to best-in-class "regular" aid station food, each Broken Arrow pit-stop will have tasty snacks, PB&J from Trail Butter (regular and gluten free bread) and nutritional products from Spring Energy and Tailwind Nutrition. Three different flavors of 100-calorie gels will be supplied by Spring Energy, while drink mix will be supplied by BOTH Tailwind AND Spring.
