MEDIA ACCESS POLICY
The Broken Arrow Skyrace, presented by Salomon, is a three-day, nine distance event held at world-famous Palisades Tahoe. The event showcases some of the most rugged and scenic terrain in North America, attracting elite and recreational trail runners from around the world.
The organizers of the Broken Arrow Skyrace welcome and appreciate media coverage of the event. This policy outlines the rights and responsibilities of media representatives who wish to access the event site, course, and participants.
Commercial rights require a separate licensing agreement. The details below pertain to the members of the media who are reporting on the event for recognized, existing and established media outlets for news or editorial purposes.

MEDIA ACCREDITATION
All media representatives who wish to cover the Broken Arrow Skyrace must apply for media accreditation prior to the event. Media accreditation is granted at the sole discretion of the organizers and may be revoked at any time for any reason.
MEDIA ACCESS
The Broken Arrow Skyrace will have their own photo and video teams on the course during each day of the event. In all areas that media partners access, please first communicate with these personnel as the Broken Arrow teams always have the right of way. This content will have priority and our team will give you guidance on clear areas for you to focus on creating content. When you arrive at the location where you would like to create and there is a Broken Arrow Skyrace staff creator already there, please discuss your intentions with them before capturing your content.
Approved Media Representatives are allowed to access the following areas:

The designated media zones along the course (see map)

The outdoor areas of the Vendor Village

Elite athlete press conferences
Approved Media Representatives are NOT allowed to access the following areas:

The course outside of the designated media zones.

The medical tent or any other restricted areas.

The finish line area within the finish line corral.

The first 250 feet past the starting line. All Approved Media Representatives must stand 50 feet back starting 10 minutes before any race start.

“The Ladder”. Only BASR staff media are allowed to access the ladder. If you have specific content needs, please mention that in your request and we will coordinate to capture that content for you.

Any on-mountain Palisade Tahoe physical structure excluding the Aerial Tram and High Camp.

No motor vehicles are allowed to be used.

No bicycles and/or e-bicycles are allowed to be used.

No drone access is allowed anywhere on Palisades Tahoe. This includes the Village, Start Line, the entire course and mountain at large. The Broken Arrow Skyrace will have three aerial teams operating during the event and will have footage available to license if needed.
Approved Media Representatives must respect the safety and privacy of all participants, volunteers, staff, and spectators. Approved Media Representatives must not interfere with or obstruct the progress of any participant or official. Approved Media Representatives must follow the instructions of event staff and marshals at all times.
MEDIA RIGHTS
Broken Arrow Skyrace owns and retains exclusive media rights (including, without limitation, rights in livestream, audio, video, Internet, or such other recordings, tangible expressions, webcasts, podcasts, trademarks, copyrights, accounts or descriptions, now known or hereafter devised). The organizers of the Broken Arrow Skyrace grant Approved Media Representatives with valid media passes a limited, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to lawfully acquire information at the Broken Arrow Skyrace such as pictures, photographs, video, audio, or by any other means so long as the information is only used for news coverage or for editorial uses in magazines, books, podcasts, videos or articles about the Broken Arrow Skyrace. Commercial rights may be negotiated at the discretion of the Broken Arrow Skyrace.
Approved Media Representatives must not use any material obtained from the event for commercial purposes without prior written consent from the organizers. Approved Media Representatives must not sell or transfer any material obtained from the event to any third party without prior written consent from the organizers.
Approved Media Representatives must acknowledge and credit the Broken Arrow Skyrace as the source of any material obtained from the event. Approved Media Representatives must respect the intellectual property rights of the organizers and their sponsors and partners. Approved Media Representatives are granted rights to use event related trademarks for news or editorial related contexts and are prohibited in use of these trademarks for commercial purposes.
Approved Media Representatives grant to Broken Arrow Skyrace, and its sponsors, the right and permission to photograph, film, record and/or otherwise capture in any media the name, image, voice, written statement, photograph and/or visual likeness of Approved Media Representatives, with right to sublicense, during the activities or otherwise, without compensation, for use for any purpose in any media throughout the world in perpetuity, including but not limited to use in livestreams, photographs, publications, podcasts, webcasts, internet, and/or in any related commercial, advertising, or promotional materials. Approved Media Representatives acknowledge and agree that all ownership and copyright rights in the images shall be owned by Broken Arrow Skyrace and waives any inspection or approval rights.
All parties acknowledge that safety is of the utmost priority. Broken Arrow Skyrace reserves the right to remove Approved Media Representatives if any party experiences inappropriate, threatening, hostile or offensive behavior from person(s) at Broken Arrow Skyrace. The Approved Media Representative assumes all risk and danger incidental to Broken Arrow Skyrace or the race venue (including, without limitation, falls, dangers of collisions, with athletes, participants, resort guests, vehicles, fixed objects, weather conditions and surface hazards). The Approved Media Representative agrees to release Broken Arrow Skyrace, Palisade Tahoe, Salomon, event sponsors, race directors, volunteers, participants and spectators from any and all liabilities resulting from injuries or personal property loss occurring before, during and after Broken Arrow Skyrace.
In consideration of accepting a credential, you hereby for yourself, waive and release any and all rights and claims for damage you may have against the Broken Arrow Skyrace, its employees and vendors, the sponsors (including, but not limited to Salomon), the volunteers, Palisades Tahoe, or the Cities and Towns in which the race is contested, their representatives, successors and assigns for any and all injuries suffered by you with respect to the Broken Arrow Skyrace.
MEDIA INFORMATION
The organizers of the Broken Arrow Skyrace will provide Approved Media Partners valid media passes with relevant information and assistance before, during, and after the event. This may include:

A media kit with event background, schedule, course maps, participant list, etc.

A pre-race media meeting to review weekend details and answer questions.

A photo gallery to help with education of views around the course.

10x images with limited licenses, to be used for editorial press ONLY (cannot be used for editorial or commercial purposes).

Approved Media Representatives are encouraged to contact the organizers with any questions or requests regarding media coverage of the event. The organizers will do their best to accommodate reasonable requests within their capacity and resources.
